Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Hardware Test Specialist for Failure Analysis to ensure the reliability and performance of Starlink Gateways. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and resolve hardware failures. This role requires expertise in electrical engineering and embedded systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in hardware testing and failure analysis, with experience in troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues. Your expertise in electrical engineering allows you to understand complex systems and identify root causes of failures effectively. You are familiar with embedded Linux and have hands-on experience with production test systems. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to enhance product reliability. You are detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills, enabling you to interpret test logs and telemetry data accurately. Your proactive approach to problem-solving helps you implement permanent resolutions to recurring issues, ensuring the longevity of hardware components.

Desirable

Experience with designing or repairing assembly fixtures and tooling is a plus. Familiarity with production environments and configuration management will enhance your ability to contribute to the team. A passion for space technology and a desire to work on innovative projects will align well with SpaceX's mission.

What you'll do

As a Hardware Test Specialist, you will operate and ensure that Gateway production test systems are functioning efficiently. You will be responsible for first-level troubleshooting of test system errors, utilizing your skills to read and interpret test logs and telemetry. Supporting production, engineering, and qualification tests will be a key part of your role, where you will assist in equipment bring-up and configuration, as well as conduct dry runs and in situ troubleshooting. You will play a crucial role in uncovering the root causes of equipment failures and developing permanent resolutions, whether through software updates or hardware changes. Additionally, you will execute and manage new configuration introductions into the production area, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions.
