3d cadSiemens nx

Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer for the Raptor Avionics team to design and test avionics for Raptor engines. You'll work with 3D CAD tools like Siemens NX and contribute to the development of controls and sensing solutions. This role requires 5+ years of experience in design-focused roles.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and over 5 years of experience in design-focused roles, with a strong background in avionics and propulsion systems. Your expertise includes 2+ years of experience with wire harness design, and you are adept at managing the full lifecycle of interconnect design. You are skilled in using 3D CAD tools, particularly Siemens NX, to create and analyze designs that meet rigorous standards. You thrive in interdisciplinary teams and are passionate about developing innovative solutions that contribute to space exploration.

You possess strong analytical skills and are experienced in performing analysis and physical testing of harnessing with respect to thermal, loads, vibration, and shock. Your ability to document requirements and communicate effectively with stakeholders through data sheets, schematics, and instruction manuals is a key strength. You are proactive in investigating failures, documenting findings, and driving corrective actions to ensure the reliability of avionics systems.

Desirable

Experience with avionics integration processes and a deep understanding of the challenges involved in ensuring the simultaneous operation of multiple engines is a plus. Familiarity with qualification testing and product release processes will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Propulsion Engineer on the Raptor Avionics team, you will own the full lifecycle of interconnect design, which includes conducting technical reviews, performing trade studies, and ensuring manufacturability. You will be responsible for the harness Bill of Materials (BOM), component selection, and routing solutions, utilizing your expertise in 3D CAD to create efficient designs. Your role will involve collecting and documenting requirements to communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring that all product documentation is clear and comprehensive.

You will perform rigorous analysis and physical testing of harnessing to validate designs against thermal, loads, vibration, and shock criteria, ensuring that all systems are qualified for flight and reuse. You will champion simplicity and reliability in the avionics integration process, collaborating closely with engine and vehicle design peers to achieve optimal results. Investigating failures and driving corrective actions will be a critical part of your responsibilities, as you work to enhance the reliability of the avionics systems.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making space exploration a reality. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where your contributions will directly impact the future of space travel. Join us in our quest to enable human life on Mars and be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation.
