Zscaler is hiring a Staff Software Development Engineer to drive the design and optimization of their proprietary timeseries database. You'll work with Java and Linux to enhance system performance. This role requires significant experience in software development and database management.
You have 5+ years of experience in software development, particularly in building and optimizing high-performance systems. Your expertise in Java allows you to design robust applications that meet user needs while ensuring system efficiency. You are familiar with database technologies and have a strong understanding of how to optimize queries and manage data effectively. Your experience with Linux environments enables you to navigate system-level enhancements and troubleshoot issues effectively. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions. You are driven by a desire to solve complex challenges and make a positive difference in the cybersecurity landscape. You understand the importance of accountability and are committed to delivering high-quality results.
Experience with timeseries databases or similar technologies would be a plus, as would familiarity with cloud-native architectures. You are comfortable with kernel-level enhancements and have a keen interest in performance optimization. A background in cybersecurity or related fields is advantageous but not required.
In this role, you will play a critical part in the evolution of the Zscaler Nanolog Service. You will be responsible for driving the design and optimization of our proprietary timeseries database, ensuring it meets the high-performance demands of our customers. You will identify system bottlenecks and implement kernel-level enhancements to improve overall system efficiency. Collaborating with other engineers, you will contribute to the development of features that enhance the functionality and reliability of our platform. You will also engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and improvement within the team. Your work will directly impact the security and efficiency of our Zero Trust Exchange platform, helping to protect thousands of customers from cyber threats.
