Technical Manager - UK

InterSystems TrakCare® is a unified healthcare information system based on the most advanced technologies. Within the TrakCare product is also InterSystems TrakCare® Lab - an advanced and proven LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). With sophisticated functionality for all of the specialized departments within a lab (including Haematology, Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, Endocrinology, Microbiology, Cytology, Immunology, Histopathology, Serology, Virology, and Toxicology), TrakCare Lab delivers the benefits you would expect from a best-in-class LIMS: accurate results reporting, improved laboratory efficiency, better business management, and greater customer satisfaction. TrakCare is used in 25 countries, with deployments that range from single hospitals to nationwide networks

InterSystems Integration Implementation delivers engagements for the TrakCare systems and the HealthShare healthcare systems integration technology. These are all built on the InterSystems proven range of core technologies such as IRIS for Health and Health Connect.

The Technical Manager for Integration will head up the TrakCare and HealthShare integration team providing dynamic technical leadership to all technical integration implementation activities. They will, in the pre-sale and early post-sale stages of all engagements, direct, coordinate and oversee any necessary technical input to the proposal related to integration. Throughout the life of all engagements, he or she will ensure that the necessary technical work is being completed to time and to appropriate quality, where necessary instructing staff and monitoring progress, and be the lead trusted adviser to customers on integration and HealthShare matters. This includes overall line management responsibility for the department.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Manager will provide the following to the TrakCare Integration, HealthShare and Technical Data migration team:

  • Provide strong, dynamic Technical Leadership to all staff in the integration department
  • Create and communicate vision to the department and in a customer facing capacity as to future direction, considering InterSystems’ product direction and external technology trends.
  • Be respected and viewed as an authority by all technical staff, even though he or she may not be the expert on all technologies
  • Provide technical oversight across all delivery engagements to ensure adherence to promised timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure that the right technical resources are allocated at the right time, resolving any priority conflicts. Manage and plan the future resource requirements of the department.
  • Develop the skills and efficiency of the integration and HealthShare technical specialists
  • Champion development and advancement of AI in this area where appropriate
  • Actively participate in critical technical investigations, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other regions to share efficiencies and learn from others
  • Lead, document and estimate the technical input to bids to understand the client requirements
  • Communicate with the client and sales staff to identify business needs, inputting into proposals to demonstrate the business benefits of the proposed technology solution.
  • Provide line management
  • Produce and deliver in-depth technical presentations.

  • Teamwork - Ability to collaborate effectively with people of comparable talents and different strengths; handles conflict constructively; avoids being argumentative; willing to pitch in and do the mundane things that need to be done; treats people at all levels and all roles with respect.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong technical competence across a broad range of integration technology components
  • Previous experience dealing with complex application deployments
  • Demonstrable customer-facing experience in both a pre- and post- sale context.
  • Self-starter qualities in order to rapidly come up to speed with our products which are both large and complex
  • Expert in HL7 standards and protocols
  • Familiarity with Project and Programme delivery

Desirable

  • Have lead teams in challenging environments
  • Experience of InterSystems technologies such as Cache, IRIS for Health and Ensemble/Health Connect
  • Experience of delivering applications to the healthcare sector
  • Software Engineering experience
