Pinecone is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to evaluate and implement state-of-the-art AI and information retrieval techniques. You'll work on advancing AI products and capabilities. This role requires a Ph.D. in a related field and a strong research background.
You hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field — your academic background has equipped you with a deep understanding of AI, information retrieval, and search techniques. You have a track record of impactful research demonstrated through publications in top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, and SIGIR. Your experience in evaluating and implementing advanced AI techniques makes you a valuable asset to any team.
You are passionate about advancing the state of the art in AI and search technologies — you stay updated with the latest literature and are eager to apply your knowledge to real-world problems. You possess strong analytical skills and can collect data, train models, and run evaluations effectively. Your ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences is one of your key strengths.

As a Senior Research Scientist at Pinecone, you will evaluate and implement state-of-the-art AI, information retrieval, and search techniques into Pinecone’s knowledge products. Your responsibilities will include improving and inventing new AI, information retrieval, and search features and capabilities. You will consume state-of-the-art literature to stay informed about the latest advancements in AI and search technologies.
On a day-to-day basis, you will collect data, train models, and run evaluations to present your findings to the team and stakeholders. You will also implement proofs of concept for new features and capabilities into the products, ensuring that Pinecone remains at the forefront of AI technology. Your role will involve publishing and presenting technical reports, blog posts, and academic papers to share your insights and contribute to the field.
