Google is seeking a Software Engineer for their Cloud Compute team to develop large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems. You'll work with technologies such as Linux and cloud computing. This position requires 2+ years of experience in software development.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in software development or 1 year with an advanced degree in an industry setting. Your background includes developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, and you possess experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture. You are familiar with building system skills, including low-level system software, Operating Systems (OS), firmware, low-level networking, or hardware. You have a strong ability to debug, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues in distributed systems, and you are experienced in testing, maintaining, and launching software products or infrastructure.
You bring fresh ideas from various areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile. You are eager to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of new product initiatives and contribute to customer advocacy by understanding user needs and delivering solutions that meet those needs.
A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields is preferred, along with 3 years of experience in software engineering within a large-scale cloud environment. Familiarity with building and operating Compute Infrastructure is a plus.
