Who you are

You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in building and operating microservices using Java and/or Ruby. Your ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across globally distributed teams sets you apart, as does your experience in planning and executing large-scale migrations. You are also passionate about mentoring and helping in the development of engineers and peers, and you possess strong written and verbal communication skills tailored for different audiences, including leadership, users, and stakeholders.

Desirable

Experience with sustainability initiatives in technology is a plus, as is familiarity with infrastructure complexities and best practices. You thrive in cross-functional environments and are eager to contribute to impactful projects that enhance service infrastructure.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer in the Service Ecosystem Sustainability team, you will play a crucial role in guiding the sustainability roadmap for service infrastructure. Your work will involve investing in impactful sustainability initiatives that aim to reduce fragmentation and improve the safe and consistent usage of infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with infrastructure and product teams to ensure that the service ecosystem remains healthy, consistent, and modern. Your contributions will directly influence the effectiveness of frameworks and abstractions built on top of core infrastructure platforms, enabling Stripe engineers to write and ship useful services efficiently.

You will also be responsible for identifying areas for improvement within the service infrastructure and proposing solutions that align with sustainability goals. Your technical expertise will be essential in mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team. You will engage in discussions with various stakeholders to communicate the importance of sustainability in service infrastructure and advocate for best practices across the organization.
