Anthropic is seeking a Commercial Counsel for Datacenters & Construction to lead legal execution for major infrastructure transactions. You'll negotiate datacenter leases and construction agreements while collaborating with outside counsel. This role requires expertise in legal matters related to real estate and construction.
You have a strong background in commercial law, particularly in real estate and construction, with experience negotiating complex agreements. You understand the intricacies of datacenter operations and the legal frameworks that govern them. Your ability to work collaboratively with external counsel and internal stakeholders is essential, as you will coordinate legal efforts to align with Anthropic's commercial objectives. You are detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to articulate legal concepts clearly to non-legal team members. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all legal aspects are addressed efficiently.
In this role, you will lead the negotiation of long-term datacenter leases with major developers, representing some of Anthropic's largest capital commitments. You will support and structure power purchase agreements and negotiate utility interconnection agreements, managing all utility-related legal requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate construction-adjacent agreements, including design-build contracts and equipment procurement, ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies. Your role will involve close collaboration with various teams, including finance and operations, to ensure that all legal documents align with Anthropic's strategic goals. You will also stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, providing guidance to the team on compliance matters.
