Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to manage mission-critical applications that support launch vehicle production and flight. You'll work with technologies like AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes to ensure system reliability. This role requires a strong background in software engineering and problem-solving skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or a related field, with a strong foundation in software engineering principles. You are proficient in Linux and have hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes. Your programming skills in languages like Python and Java enable you to automate processes and improve system reliability. You are familiar with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and understand the intricacies of managing scalable applications in a cloud environment. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems and enhance system performance. You possess a proactive mindset, always looking for ways to optimize and improve existing systems. You are comfortable with monitoring tools and incident management practices, ensuring that systems remain operational and efficient.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale distributed systems and a background in aerospace or similar industries would be advantageous. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code practices is a plus. You are also encouraged to apply if you have experience in data management and analytics, as these skills can contribute to the success of our mission.

What you'll do

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at SpaceX, you will take ownership of mission-critical applications that are essential for the success of our launch vehicle production and flight operations. You will collaborate with engineers across various programs to design, implement, and maintain reliable systems that support the rapid build and reuse of Starship and the scaling of the Starlink network. Your role will involve developing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes and enhance system reliability. You will lead incident management efforts, ensuring that any disruptions are addressed swiftly and effectively.
