Uber is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to enhance their Payments Data Engineering team. You'll design and optimize data systems to support global payments infrastructure using technologies like Python, SQL, and Apache Spark. This role requires 7+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data engineering.
You have over 7 years of hands-on experience in software engineering with a strong focus on data engineering — you've designed, built, and optimized data systems that support scalability and compliance in complex environments. Your proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala allows you to tackle real-world data challenges effectively.
Your strong SQL skills and experience with large-scale data processing frameworks like Apache Spark, Flink, MapReduce, and Presto enable you to transform complex financial and transactional data into reliable pipelines. You have a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable ETL pipelines and data platforms, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional partners in Engineering, Product, Risk, and Compliance. Your ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders is a key strength, allowing you to drive projects forward even in ambiguous situations.
A deep understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling best practices is highly valued. Hands-on experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools such as Hive, HDFS, Oozie, Airflow, and Spark will set you apart as a candidate who can contribute significantly to our data initiatives.
