Affirm is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for their Identity Engineering team to drive customer identity capabilities across international markets. You'll work with Java and Spring to build and expand Identity Data Management and Verification systems. This role requires significant experience in backend engineering and collaboration across teams.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You have a strong understanding of the complexities involved in identity management and have successfully navigated regulatory challenges in previous roles. Your expertise in Java and Spring is complemented by a solid grasp of REST API design principles, enabling you to create efficient and reliable services.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product management, design, and analytics teams to ensure that technical sustainability and business objectives are aligned. You are adept at communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is on the same page regarding project goals and timelines.
Your experience includes evaluating and integrating third-party vendors, particularly in the KYC space, and you understand the importance of maintaining compliance with global standards. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling complex challenges and finding innovative solutions that drive business growth.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus, as is familiarity with data management tools and practices. You may have worked in a startup environment, where agility and adaptability were key to success, and you are comfortable with the fast-paced nature of technology development.
