Job Description

Why Socure?

Socure is building the identity trust infrastructure for the digital economy — verifying 100% of good identities in real time and stopping fraud before it starts. The mission is big, the problems are complex, and the impact is felt by businesses, governments, and millions of people every day.

We hire people who want that level of responsibility. People who move fast, think critically, act like owners, and care deeply about solving customer problems with precision. If you want predictability or narrow scope, this won’t be your place. If you want to help build the future of identity with a team that holds a high bar for itself — keep reading.

At Socure, we are building mission‑critical systems that power the future of digital trust, operating at global scale and high reliability. As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will be a hands‑on technical leader who sets direction, elevates engineering quality, and delivers measurable product outcomes while remaining actively involved in design and development. This is not a pure people‑management or delivery‑management role, you will contribute code/design, lead complex initiatives, and coach engineers to do their best work.

This role is ideal for leaders who thrive in high‑growth, product‑driven environments, have a passion for distributed systems, and want to directly shape secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure while developing engineering talent.

What you'll do:

  • Architect and design scalable, resilient, and high‑performance backend systems and platforms on AWS, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and cost efficiency.

  • Contribute hands‑on to critical paths (design reviews, prototyping, code, performance tuning, debugging), typically 30% of your time, while creating leverage through mentoring and standards.

  • Lead technical initiatives across services and teams; drive design forums, set engineering guardrails, and ensure high‑quality delivery through code reviews and automation.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Design, Data Science, and Platform to shape scope, sequence milestones, and de‑risk execution for iterative releases.

  • Own APIs and microservices design, including REST and event‑driven patterns; uphold best practices for versioning, contracts, and backward compatibility.

  • Drive operational excellence: define SLOs, improve observability and alerting, harden on‑call/runbooks, and lead incident response and post‑mortems.

  • Solve complex problems in distributed systems (throughput, latency, consistency, data modeling) with a pragmatic approach to tradeoffs.

  • Document architectural decisions, service ownership, and operational runbooks to scale knowledge and ensure long‑term maintainability.

  • Grow engineers with clear expectations, actionable feedback, and mentoring; hire and onboard diverse talent aligned to our culture of ownership and collaboration.

What you bring:

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of large‑scale backend systems in production.

  • 3+ years of technical leadership (Tech Lead or Manager) with hands‑on delivery; demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross‑team initiatives while writing/designing high‑quality software.

  • 5+ years of experience with Golang (preferred) and/or Java; strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, concurrency, distributed systems).

  • Strong understanding with AWS cloud‑native architectures and services (e.g., ECS/EKS, Lambda, OpenSearch, DynamoDB, RDS, S3) and resilience patterns.

  • Strong understanding in microservices, APIs, and event‑driven design; proficiency with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Strong operational mindset: observability, monitoring, incident response, performance engineering, and security best practices.

  • Strong understanding with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies (unit, integration, e2e), and modern DevOps workflows; comfort with Git‑based trunk/branch strategies.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision‑making; ability to frame tradeoffs and drive alignment across engineering and product.

Socure is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity in all its forms within our company. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
If you need an accommodation during any stage of the application or hiring process—including interview or onboarding support—please reach out to your Socure recruiting partner directly.
