Google is hiring a Data Center Technician I to support the physical infrastructure behind its technology. You'll be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and server software. This role requires experience in troubleshooting and repairing technical equipment.
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50lb and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are adaptable and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays. You have at least 1 year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You are a collaborative team player who can effectively execute verbal and written instructions.
As a Data Center Technician I at Google, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software like Google's Linux cluster. You will perform component-level repairs and preventative maintenance on IT equipment based on identified issues. You will work in a team setting to disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life and ensure that security issues are handled according to Google’s standards. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams to overcome challenges and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.
