Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Technician to maintain and troubleshoot mission-critical technology infrastructure in Canton, Mississippi. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime for AWS data centers.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an entry-level Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems. You have hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining critical infrastructure, ensuring that technology operates seamlessly. Your attention to detail and problem-solving skills make you a valuable asset in maintaining high uptime standards. You are eager to learn and grow within a dynamic team environment, contributing to the success of mission-critical facilities.

You possess knowledge of three-phase electrical systems, including switch gear, UPSs, and PDUs. Your familiarity with diesel generators and cooling systems, such as centrifugal chillers and cooling towers, allows you to effectively support the operations of data centers. You are comfortable working with various equipment and systems, ensuring they function optimally to support global digital experiences.

Desirable

Experience with AWS infrastructure or similar cloud services is a plus. Familiarity with data center operations and maintenance practices will help you excel in this role. You are a team player who communicates effectively and collaborates with engineers and specialists across various disciplines.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Technician at Amazon, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of our data centers. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining an extraordinary 99.999% uptime, which is critical for our global customers.

You will perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mission-critical facilities, including stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems. Your expertise will be essential in identifying and resolving issues quickly to minimize downtime. You will also assist in the operation of cooling systems, pumps, and motors, ensuring that all equipment is functioning as intended.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers. You will participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and share insights on improving operational efficiency. Your contributions will help shape the future of AWS infrastructure services, supporting the design, planning, delivery, and operation of our global data centers.
