Job Description

The Kindle Reader team is looking for an exceptional leader to define and lead the next generation of solutions that power the reading experience on millions of Kindle reading devices and apps.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about building great products, has a strong track record of success, and is excited to join our team of talented engineers.

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead a team of engineers in the design, development, deployment, and operation of large-scale mobile and web client applications and distributed cloud services. Your team will be responsible for keeping customers’ Kindle experiences seamlessly and reliably in sync as they switch between various apps and devices.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* A strong track record of building and leading high-performing teams
* A deep understanding of software development principles and practices

* Excellent communication skills
* A passion for delivering innovative and user-friendly products.

* Building, maintaining, and organizing your team

We are a diverse and talented group of builders who are passionate about creating amazing reading experiences for our customers. We work on a wide range of projects, from developing new features for our E-readers and apps to creating new ways for people to discover and enjoy books.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
