Job Description

The Retail Infrastructure Services team within Amazon Worldwide Grocery Store Tech is looking for a passionate and innovative Mobile and Store Voice Engineering Manager to join our team. We have an opportunity to revolutionize the brick-and-mortar grocery shopping experience and set new standards for accessing the highest quality organic and natural groceries across the US, Canada, and the UK in Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh banner stores.

As a leader on the team you will own and drive large projects across the Retail Infrastructure technology space. You will be a key member of tech initiatives and help your team drive forward technology solutions working with delivery teams, system engineers, support engineers, mobile engineers, and deployment program managers to create a best-in-class mobile and voice solutions to enhance the grocery shopping experience. Your team will own product selection, mobile device solutions (design, build, testing, implementation, support strategy), and mobile device management (MDM) platforms (build, configuration, and management). You will work closely with partners in Retail Infrastructure and Retail Support, remove barriers to project success, stand up cross-functional teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders, develop engineers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery. Your experience working hands on and demonstrating the skills necessary for your team members is a must.

Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess experience in tactical management of mobile infrastructure and voice initiatives, as well as strategic planning and development. The candidate will have experience implementing and leading teams developing retail solutions using handhelds, tablets, and kiosks and running Android operating systems. They will be able to apply a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting, and metric development/tracking. They will have experience hiring strong team members and developing and leading strong teams.

A day in the life
This leader will develop mobile and voice engineers into highly successful contributors within Worldwide Grocery Store Tech. The leader will help team members by removing barriers, negotiating needs, and building trust with stakeholders.

About the team
This team is responsible for leading complex and challenging projects that will deliver innovative mobile and voice infrastructure solutions to our physical stores.- BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 10+ years of systems engineering experience with mobile and voice solutions.
- 5+ Years of team management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems independently.
- Strong understanding of support processes – SLA, handling tickets, monitoring, processes and metrics.
- Proven ability to write scripts and automation.
- Understanding of the complete deployment life cycle from design, build, test, and deploy.
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must- Hands on experience in Cloud technologies.
- Experience with system design.
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience managing third-party partner relationships
