Venn is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the development of financial services products. You'll work with Java to build scalable solutions for Canadian entrepreneurs. This role requires 5+ years of backend development experience.
You have over 5 years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on building and scaling production-ready products from scratch. Your expertise in Java allows you to create high-performance applications that meet the needs of users and businesses alike. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, demonstrating a quick learning ability and a results-driven mindset. Excellent communication and organizational skills are part of your toolkit, enabling you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You are passionate about fintech and eager to contribute to redefining the future of banking in Canada.
Experience at an early-stage or fast-growing startup is a plus, as is familiarity with payment products such as card issuing and money transfers. If you have side projects that showcase your skills, we would love to hear about them.
In this role, you will lead the development of various financial services products, including transfers, cards, and lending solutions. You will ensure that these systems are production-ready and capable of handling the demands of our growing user base. Collaborating with product, sales, and operations teams, you will work to understand and solve our customers' pain points, integrating with banking partners and third-party APIs to enable features like virtual cards and international money transfers. Your ability to operate independently will be crucial as you work directly with product owners, leveraging your experience in shipping products in a fast-paced startup environment.
You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust backend systems that support our innovative banking solutions. This includes optimizing performance, ensuring security, and maintaining high availability. You will also participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall architecture of our systems, ensuring that they are scalable and maintainable.
