Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a wealth of experience debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your expertise in Java is complemented by a strong understanding of REST APIs, allowing you to create efficient and effective backend solutions. You thrive in a remote-first environment and are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software. You are passionate about open-source projects and understand the importance of community-driven development. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies as the landscape evolves.

Desirable

Experience with Grafana or similar observability tools is a plus. Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and microservices will help you excel in this role. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and enjoy tackling challenges head-on. A background in alerting systems or monitoring solutions would be beneficial, as would experience working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Alerting squad, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the alerting features of the Grafana open-source project. You will collaborate closely with customers and the Grafana Cloud teams to ensure that alerting works seamlessly both on-prem and in the cloud. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing backend services that are robust, scalable, and maintainable. You will participate in code reviews, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the codebase remains clean and efficient. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise in production, providing support to users and stakeholders as needed. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience, helping to make alert management more intuitive and effective.
