Amazon is seeking a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to lead the Managed Operations team for the European Sovereign Cloud initiative. You'll oversee operations and development teams to ensure high-availability AWS services. This role requires strong leadership and expertise in development management.

Who you are

You have a strong background in development management and operations expertise, with at least 5 years of experience in leading engineering teams. Your leadership style emphasizes collaboration and innovation, and you are passionate about building high-availability services that meet customer needs. You are well-versed in AWS technologies and have a deep understanding of cloud computing principles. You thrive in environments that require strategic thinking and operational excellence, and you are committed to delivering scalable solutions. You have experience in managing teams that focus on automation and engineering efficiency, ensuring that your teams are equipped to handle the challenges of modern cloud infrastructure.

Desirable

Experience with high-availability systems and a proven track record of launching successful cloud initiatives will set you apart. Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and Lambda is highly desirable, as is a background in utility computing. You are comfortable working with global teams and have excellent communication skills that enable you to influence and drive change across departments.

What you'll do

In this role, you will spearhead the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025, collaborating closely with AWS global teams to ensure a successful rollout. You will oversee the development and operations teams, focusing on enhancing the availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of AWS services tailored for EU customers. Your responsibilities will include setting strategic goals for your teams, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring that operational best practices are followed. You will work on improving day-to-day operations, implementing automation strategies, and driving engineering efficiency across the board. As a leader, you will mentor and develop your team members, helping them grow in their careers while achieving the company's objectives. You will also be involved in influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology, ensuring that they align with customer needs and industry standards.
