Job Description

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.


Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer (ASIC) who will define ASIC quality requirements and deploy processes to deliver aerospace quality at unprecedented scale.

The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with excellent analytical abilities, technical skills, effective written and verbal communication, and most importantly, a passion for developing outsourced assembly and test (OSAT) suppliers to produce high-quality, mission-critical hardware in volume production.
- Own quality performance of OSAT suppliers including requirements definition, qualification, production process validation, failure analysis, metrics reporting, and continuous improvement
- Define and scale Amazon Leo’s quality system to ensure early detection of process excursions improving product quality and reliability in mass production
- Act as the primary interface for quality-related issues with OSAT suppliers
- Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with Amazon Leo's quality requirements
- Set and monitor quality metrics across Amazon Leo’s ASIC supply chain
- Perform supplier data analysis and visualization
- Work with Engineering and Supply Chain team for second source qualifications
- Own systems, tools and business processes used to manage device traceability and key quality/test metrics
- Travel as needed to accomplish program objectives


Export Control Requirement:
This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export regulations.

A day in the life
- Collaborates with product development teams as the owner of ASIC quality system requirements
- Acts with internal customer on behalf of Amazon Leo Production by improving reliability, reducing defect rates and driving failure analysis
- Builds and enforces implementation of the Amazon Leo Quality System
- Serves as the face of Quality for ASIC supplier communication
- Leads resolution of quality events utilizing structured failure analysis tools

About the team
The Amazon Leo Supplier Quality team is driven to develop a vendor base capable of scaling aerospace quality to new volume and cost levels in order to meet end customer needs. This position will join the team at an exciting moment with the opportunity to own quality for key categories and contribute to the design of requirements and systems used across the business. We value data driven decision making, a comfort with ambiguity across multiple simultaneous projects, an ability to earn the trust of our key stakeholders, and delivering results without sacrificing integrity.- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Experience identifying bugs in architecture, algorithms, functionality, and performance with strong overall debugging skills
- Experience verifying at multiple levels of logic from IP blocks to SoCs to full system testing- Master's degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering or a related field
- Experience with formal verification techniques including abstraction and end-to-end checking
- Experience with ARM and various DSP ISAs
- Experience with current and upcoming RF standards in cellular (4G/5G NR), WiMAX, 802.11ad, microwave backhaul, or related broadband wireless standards
- Experience with industry standard tools and scripting languages (Python or Perl) for automation
