We’re Hiring a Software Development Manager (SDM) – Indirect Tax Compliance | Hyderabad

We are looking for a tenured Software Development Manager to lead our Indirect Tax compliance charter across multiple geographies. This is a mission-critical role at the intersection of technology, tax regulation, and business expansion, driving innovation, scale, and compliance in some of the fastest-growing Amazon marketplaces.
What You'll Own
You will lead the technical strategy and execution of high-impact initiatives that ensure Amazon meets complex and evolving tax obligations while enabling rapid business growth. Your team will design and build scalable, self-serve tax compliance products, enabling automated compliance reporting, while maintaining operational excellence and customer obsession.
You’ll also play a pivotal role in shaping the next-gen AI/ML-driven tax compliance stack, pioneering self-healing systems that can detect, correct, and report anomalies in real time.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead high-performing engineering teams delivering reliable, highly available software for critical and complex systems.
* Build extensible, scalable systems for compliance and controllership in diverse regulatory environments
* Partner with Product Managers, Tax SMEs, and global stakeholders to define strategy and roadmap.
* Drive architecture and design decisions that shape Amazon’s tax tech backbone.
* Integrate GenAI and predictive analytics to simplify reconciliations, automate workflows, and enable proactive risk management.
* Hire, coach, and grow talent while instilling a culture of innovation, accountability, and high standards.

- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
