Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in database reliability engineering, with a strong focus on managing large-scale databases. Your expertise includes working with very large databases (VLDBs) of 1+ TB and handling over 100 databases simultaneously. You are proficient in SQL and have experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL, which are essential for this role. Your programming skills include languages such as PowerShell, C#, and Python, enabling you to automate tasks and enhance database performance. You are familiar with tools like Git and Jira, which help you manage projects effectively. Your experience with Azure Data Factory and Grafana allows you to monitor and visualize database performance metrics effectively.

Desirable

Experience with NoSQL databases is a plus, as it complements your existing skills in relational databases. Familiarity with data engineering tools such as DataBricks and InfluxDB will further enhance your ability to contribute to the team. You are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and understand the importance of maintaining database uptime and reliability.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of PointClickCare's database systems. You will monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance. Your work will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions that meet the needs of our healthcare platform. You will also be tasked with developing automation scripts to streamline database management processes, ensuring that our systems are efficient and scalable.

You will participate in capacity planning and performance tuning, making recommendations for improvements based on your analysis of database performance metrics. Your role will require you to stay updated on the latest database technologies and best practices, allowing you to bring innovative solutions to the team. You will also contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team, helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
