Google is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Photos team to lead the development of image editing and creation tools. You'll work with iOS and Android technologies to enhance user experience. This role requires 8+ years of software development experience and 2+ years in a leadership position.
You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of experience in software development. You possess at least 2 years of experience with iOS or Android application development, and you have a proven track record in a technical leadership role for 2 years. Your experience includes people management or team leadership, where you have successfully guided teams towards achieving their goals. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, along with 3 years of experience working in a cross-functional organization. You have led teams in image and video editing, media consumption, or creative applications, and you have experience building successful consumer features and bringing them to market quickly—from prototyping to productionization. You excel in developing cross-functional and cross-team partnerships and have a strong focus on team growth through clear mentorship and coaching.
In this role, you will lead the Image Editing and Creation team at Google Photos, focusing on empowering users with simple tools to express themselves creatively. You will oversee the development of photo, video, and movie editors, ensuring that the team delivers a reliable and delightful editing experience for over 1.5 billion users. Your mission will involve staying ahead of industry trends and initiating partnerships across Google to develop new features that enhance users’ libraries. You will work closely with product, UX, and infrastructure teams, as well as research groups, to bring innovative editing features to core surfaces in the Google Photos app. You will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and technical excellence, while also mentoring team members to help them grow in their careers.
