Waymo is seeking a Director of AI Foundations to lead the integration of foundation model setups into customer frameworks. You'll work with advanced machine learning techniques including reinforcement learning and generative modeling. This role requires significant experience in AI and machine learning.
You have extensive experience in AI and machine learning, with a strong background in developing and integrating complex models into production systems. Your expertise includes reinforcement learning, generative modeling, and Bayesian inference, which you have applied in real-world scenarios to solve challenging problems in autonomous driving. You are skilled in collaborating with cross-functional teams, understanding customer needs, and translating them into actionable technical solutions. You thrive in a hybrid work environment and are comfortable leading projects that require both technical depth and strategic vision.
Experience with hierarchical learning and robust evaluation methods is a plus. You have a track record of fostering collaborations with research teams and are adept at navigating the complexities of integrating AI solutions into existing frameworks. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders sets you apart.
In this role, you will be accountable for the productive integration of foundation model setups developed by the AI Foundations and ML Infra teams into customer frameworks. You will work closely with customers to understand their requirements and ensure that the integrations meet their needs effectively. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the evaluation of model performance and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes. You will also lead initiatives to explore new machine learning techniques and methodologies that can enhance the capabilities of the Waymo Driver.
You will collaborate with other research teams within Alphabet to initiate and foster partnerships that drive innovation in autonomous driving technology. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the AI Foundations team towards achieving its mission of developing cutting-edge machine learning solutions that address open problems in the field. You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, applying this knowledge to enhance the Waymo Driver's performance across various driving conditions.
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $332,000 to $421,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
