Amazon is seeking a Public Policy Manager for Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Gurugram, India. Job Description

Are you ready to apply your skills and experience in public policy development and advocacy in the fast moving, transformational sector of cloud computing and information technology? We are looking for a talented, innovative, and motivated public policy professional with demonstrated ability to contribute to and support Government policy development, including in areas of technology adoption, digital infrastructure and services, data sharing, use and security, or whole of government transformation. The successful candidate will orchestrate strategic policy initiatives through close collaboration with public policy and business teams. The role demands a deep understanding of both the evolving policy landscape and our customers' priorities, strategic planning with hands-on execution, as well as expertise in developing comprehensive engagement frameworks to deliver measurable policy outcomes across Central and State governments.

Key job responsibilities
Key areas of responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of public policy positions for AWS and lead and drive advocacy with senior policy officials in Government Departments and Agencies.
- Assess and communicate the implications of potential regulatory actions, identify public sector business opportunities of government initiatives, develop enhancement or mitigation strategies to policy proposals, and coordinate advocacy efforts, outreach programs and the communication of key AWS business initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with AWS business objectives, working closely alongside colleagues in India and globally.
- Collect and verify intelligence relating to legislative, regulatory, and policy issues of interest to AWS.
- Develop innovative approaches to advance AWS’s policy positions both directly and through industry associations/coalitions, partners and peers to enable a transparent and technology-informed regulatory environment at a national level.
- Work collaboratively and transparently with AWS business groups, specifically the AWS Public Sector team, to ensure alignment with core business priorities and public policy goals.
- The successful candidate must be a respected and experienced professional who is inquisitive, intellectually ambitious and enthusiastic about technology, enjoys working hard and being continually challenged, demonstrates sound judgment and autonomy in ambiguous situations, and initiates and succeeds in robust advocacy.
- Experience working on public policy development, government relations, or communications in areas with a strong focus on technology or digital transformation.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and lead in the development of public policy initiatives and/or execute significant policy change.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and successfully advocate to the Government.
- Bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant discipline, preferably law, or public policy.
- Fluent written and spoken English.- Experience in technology sector policy and regulatory affairs.
- The successful candidate must be inquisitive, demonstrate high integrity, be enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Previous work experience engaging and/or executing advocacies with central or state governments.
- A good track record of achieving meaningful changes to regulatory environment through public policy advocacy.
- Excellent understanding of political landscape of India at a national and state level.
- Ability to dive deep into political, legislative and regulatory trends at both the national and state government level, that may impact the AWS business.
- Ability to synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
- Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and comfortably with senior government officials.
- Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment, decision-making skills, and political acumen, with the ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others as required.
- Maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
- Self-starter with a proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization (especially functions such as legal, security, business and PR), as well as across cultures. Ability to work independently as required.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with external stakeholders.
- Effective time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands on your time.
