Overview

Google is seeking a Senior Microelectronics Numerical Simulation Engineer to drive technology evaluation and simulation capabilities for AI platforms. You'll work with MATLAB, Python, and various simulation tools to ensure product reliability. This role requires 8+ years of experience in microelectronics packaging.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or possess equivalent practical experience, complemented by at least 8 years of experience in microelectronics packaging. Your background includes proficiency in statistical software tools and a strong grasp of computational fluid dynamics, which you have applied in real-world scenarios. You have hands-on experience with Flotherm, Abaqus, MATLAB, and Python, showcasing your ability to leverage these tools for simulation and analysis. Your expertise extends to test vehicle design and the experimental validation of simulation models, ensuring that your work is grounded in practical application. You are familiar with thermomechanical and mechanical shock simulation, and you thrive in cross-functional engineering teams, collaborating effectively to achieve project goals.

Desirable

While not mandatory, experience in risk assessments based on failure data will set you apart. Your ability to influence product architecture from its earliest stages through advanced simulation and design guidelines is a valuable asset. You are also keen on staying updated with the latest developments in numerical analysis, attending conferences and industry forums to enhance your knowledge and skills.

What you'll do

As a Senior Microelectronics Numerical Simulation Engineer at Google, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technology evaluation and simulation capabilities of our cutting-edge AI platforms. Your responsibilities will include providing design guidelines and virtual prototyping through advanced simulation techniques. You will conduct risk assessments and make material and geometry recommendations to ensure the thermomechanical reliability and manufacturability of complex chip packages. You will execute test vehicles to generate the experimental data required for model validation and enhancement, contributing to the development of roadmaps for materials, models, and infrastructure necessary to scale numerical models in both local and cloud-based simulation environments. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential as you work to influence product architecture and ensure that our hardware meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.

What we offer

At Google, you will be part of a team that underpins the entire product portfolio of Google Technical Infrastructure, from Cloud TPU/GPU AI platforms to core compute, storage, and networking solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the industry's largest and most complex chip packages, making a significant impact on the future of technology. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in shaping the future of computing infrastructure and ensuring its reliability and performance.
