SpaceX is seeking a Senior IT Network Engineer to design and support complex wireless and wired networks. You'll work with Cisco technologies and network access control systems in Hawthorne, CA.
You have 5+ years of professional network engineering experience, with a strong background in designing and troubleshooting large-scale networks. Your expertise includes a deep understanding of networking technologies such as routing, switching, and dynamic multicast. You are well-versed in Wi-Fi technologies and network access control, and you have experience with automation tools that enhance network performance. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or you have equivalent professional experience. You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling complex networking challenges and ensuring optimal network performance.
You have a comprehensive understanding of the OSI model and can apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios. Familiarity with network monitoring tools and documentation practices is a plus, as is experience in developing network policies and standards. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to share your knowledge with team members.
In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of large and complex wireless networks, ensuring they meet the reliability and redundancy standards required by SpaceX. You will configure, install, and support both campus and data center networks, troubleshooting any wired or wireless networking issues that arise. Your responsibilities will also include supporting the deployment of network access control systems using 802.1X, developing and enforcing network policies, and preparing project roadmaps for future network expansions. You will create and maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and changes, ensuring that all team members have access to up-to-date information. Additionally, you will monitor network health using both in-house and third-party tools, developing automation tools to streamline network management processes.
