Overview

SageSure is hiring an AVP, Surplus Lines to oversee compliance in the surplus lines market. You'll ensure adherence to regulations and manage operational practices across multiple jurisdictions. This role requires a strong service mindset and experience in regulatory risk management.

Who you are

You have a strong background in compliance and regulatory management, ideally within the insurance sector. Your experience includes overseeing compliance with industry standards and regulations, ensuring that all surplus lines placements meet legal requirements. You possess excellent analytical skills, allowing you to assess operational practices and create effective compliance plans. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with teams to ensure that all necessary materials and information are prepared for regulatory audits and examinations. Your attention to detail ensures that all surplus lines tax reports are accurate and submitted on time, reflecting your commitment to excellence in compliance.

You are a proactive problem solver, capable of leading regulatory risk management efforts to maintain compliance across various jurisdictions. Your ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders is crucial, as you will assist in drafting responses to regulatory authorities and ensure that your team is well-informed about compliance requirements. You understand the importance of a service mindset and are dedicated to helping customers while navigating complex regulatory landscapes.

Desirable

Experience in the excess and surplus lines market is a plus, as is familiarity with state statutes and regulations. You may have a background in tax reporting and reconciliation, which would enhance your ability to oversee the preparation of necessary reports. A strong understanding of the insurance industry and its regulatory environment will set you apart as a candidate.

What you'll do

In this role, you will oversee the compliance of surplus lines placements, ensuring that all activities align with industry standards and regulations. You will lead your team in preparing materials for internal and external regulatory audits, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and submitted on time. Your responsibilities will include regular reporting of surplus lines tax reports, requiring you to run reports and verify data for accuracy. You will also oversee the reconciliation of discrepancies between tax reports and actual tax obligations, ensuring that all filings meet deadlines.

You will play a key role in implementing new and existing state statutes and regulations related to the surplus lines market. This involves staying updated on regulatory changes and assessing their impact on operational practices. You will lead efforts to create and enforce compliance plans, ensuring that your team is equipped to handle regulatory requirements effectively. Your leadership will foster a culture of compliance within the organization, empowering your team to take ownership of their responsibilities.
