SpaceX is hiring a Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement health and safety policies. You'll work with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory frameworks in Hawthorne, CA.
You have a strong background in environmental health and safety, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. Your expertise includes developing and maintaining compliance with regulations established by OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. You are skilled in conducting job hazard assessments and implementing effective health and safety policies and procedures. Your ability to monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards is second nature, and you understand the importance of machine guarding in maintaining workplace safety.
You are proactive in identifying potential hazards and have a track record of developing recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not adhered to by employees. Your experience includes inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. You are adept at completing and maintaining documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits, and you have a keen eye for detail when investigating industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes and corrective actions.
Your knowledge extends to developing and maintaining safety contingency plans for various scenarios, including fires and spills. You are well-versed in reviewing and interpreting new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, providing guidance to management to ensure compliance with the latest standards.
Experience in aerospace or manufacturing environments is a plus, as is familiarity with environmental regulations specific to these industries. You are a strong communicator, capable of collaborating with department leadership to foster a culture of safety within the organization.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, and NIOSH. You will collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures. Monitoring employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will understanding and implementing machine guarding where needed.
You will develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. Regular inspections of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment will be part of your routine, allowing you to identify and correct potential hazards while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

Developing and implementing safety contingency plans for various scenarios will be crucial to your role, as will maintaining compliance with environmental regulations established by the EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA, and other regulatory agencies.
