Overview

Agoda is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to oversee all indirect tax aspects related to payments and fintech products. You'll manage compliance with tax regulations globally while collaborating with various teams. This role is based in Bangkok and offers relocation support.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in indirect tax management, particularly in the fintech and payments sectors. With at least 5 years of experience, you are well-versed in VAT, sales tax, GST, and other indirect taxes. Your expertise allows you to navigate complex tax regulations across different jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and strategic tax planning for the organization.

You possess excellent analytical skills and a keen attention to detail, enabling you to identify tax implications and opportunities for optimization. Your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product and Legal, ensures that tax considerations are integrated into business decisions. You are proactive in staying updated on tax law changes and their potential impact on the company's operations.

Your experience in managing indirect tax audits and working with external advisors demonstrates your capability to handle high-stakes situations with professionalism. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy mentoring junior team members, sharing your knowledge and insights to foster their growth.

Desirable

Experience in the travel or e-commerce industry is a plus, as it provides you with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities in the sector. Familiarity with digital services tax and withholding-type transaction taxes will enhance your ability to contribute to Agoda's global tax strategy.

What you'll do

As the Indirect Tax Manager at Agoda, you will take on the responsibility of managing all indirect tax matters related to our payments, wallets, and fintech products. You will ensure compliance with VAT, sales tax, GST, and other indirect taxes across various jurisdictions, working closely with the broader Tax and Finance team.

You will lead the development and implementation of tax strategies that align with Agoda's business objectives, ensuring that all tax obligations are met timely and accurately. Your role will involve conducting thorough reviews of tax processes and identifying areas for improvement, streamlining operations to enhance efficiency.

Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work alongside Product and Legal teams to provide tax advice on new product offerings and initiatives. You will play a crucial role in assessing the tax implications of business decisions, helping to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

You will also manage indirect tax audits, liaising with tax authorities and external advisors as necessary. Your expertise will be invaluable in preparing documentation and reports to support the company's tax positions.
