Job Description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

Our Warsaw office is an incredibly exciting addition to our global engineering team. Productivity Engineering is a key part of Netflix’s Platform organization, focused on maximizing developer productivity and impact across the company. The org builds cohesive tools and experiences that streamline the entire software development lifecycle, enabling engineers to efficiently develop, deliver, and operate their services.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Engineer to join the team responsible for Hawkins Professional, our enterprise design system supporting over 700 apps, 1,600 Engineers, & 60 Designers on a daily basis. Hawkins Professional powers a comprehensive ecosystem of web applications that guide our content from script to screen. These apps support every stage—from script management and subtitling/dubbing to VFX coordination—while also serving finance, device partners, ad buyers, developers, data scientists, game studios, developer platform teams, and more.

As part of the broader JS Platform organization, our team champions the needs of UI (browser) application teams across Netflix. Our mission is to empower these teams to effortlessly create, share, and discover UI components—enabling them to focus on innovation by simplifying the complexities of software development and management. Exceptional developer experience is at the core of everything we do.

We work in close partnership with our design team to evolve and expand the Hawkins design system, ensuring seamless integration of design and engineering.

Our team is deeply rooted in the human-centered values outlined in our Culture Memo, which guide our daily work and interactions. While code is an important aspect of what we do, our true impact extends far beyond it—shaping the way teams collaborate, create, and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Development: Build and maintain a scalable Design System, ensuring consistent, accessible, and high performance user experience across hundreds of internal web applications. Extend impact beyond the frontend; contributing to foundational scripts, build processes, or CI workflows that support delivery of the library.

  • Cross Functional Execution: Work closely with System Designers to translate Figma designs into robust, reusable UI components, ensuring visual and functional parity between design and code.

  • Evangelism: Drive adoption and quality of the Design System by supporting engineering teams, improving documentation, establishing usage guidelines, and gathering feedback to inform ongoing improvements.

  • Innovation:  Follow industry trends and emerging technologies, continually seek opportunities to evolve the Design System tooling functionality, scalability, and innovation in UI development workflows.

  • Leverage GenAI to boost the Design System’s adoption and developer experience, applying prompt and context engineering to create intelligent agents, automation, and migration tools that help UI Engineers complete migrations and build user interfaces more efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Front End Dev & Tooling: Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML/CSS, and related technologies.

  • Design System / Component Library Experience: Experience building and maintaining UI component libraries, component architecture, APIs & and composition patterns.  Experience collaborating with design teams using Figma workflows.

  • Communication & Influence: Ability to advocate for reducing developer overhead and encourage contributions to the Design System, using effective communication and collaboration skills.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
