Amazon Operations Technology is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our Network Automation team in Austin. In this role you will be solving challenging problems and developing scalable, high-performing solutions that require minimal long term sustaining and development support.
Our team is responsible for all global core services and infrastructure within the Operations Technology space; our systems support over 100,000 Amazonians and hundreds of thousands of IP enabled devices. We build software which scales to support all of Amazon's network infrastructure. You will work to create scalable software solutions to build automation for infrastructure devices in our fulfillment centers.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Partner with Systems Engineers, Network Engineers and Software Engineers globally to develop simple and efficient technology that supports our Fulfillment Centers and Transportation Sites.
- Work with a wide variety of technologies and projects that range from third party enterprise solutions to open source and proprietary inventions.
- Technicians and Engineers worldwide will look to you for mentorship, guidance and solutions to complex business problems that are truly unique to Amazon.

- In your day-to-day work you will focus on automation of complex tasks to allow our business to scale with customer demand.
A day in the life
You will be a part of an agile development team following innovative best practices in software development where you will work on technical designs, architecture and coding. To build our applications, you will interact with network engineering teams to gather requirements, provide technical solutions and develop the software that are required in defining our next generation products.

About the team
Our team exists to enable automation on network devices running in all fulfillment centers. We are responsible for delivering application frameworks and foundational pieces that are critical for automation on the network and we do so by showing the utmost customer obsession. As a part of the Data Services team, you’ll get to interact and work with multiple teams to develop an ecosystem end to end covering product conception to shipping on the vast number of Amazon devices in the field.- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
