Overview

Google is seeking an Associate Systems Development Engineer to deploy and manage advanced cloud and AI technologies for the Public Sector. You'll work with Linux, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes while supporting U.S. Government customers. This role requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related IT field, or you have equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in technical infrastructure, you are familiar with deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Your background includes 2 years of Linux system administration, shell scripting, or working with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. You have experience with scripting languages such as Python and Go, and you understand networking concepts. An active U.S. Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with Polygraph is required for this role.

Desirable

Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Distributed Cloud (GDC), or similar edge/hosted products is preferred. You have managed AI/ML workloads and are familiar with infrastructure monitoring stacks like Prometheus and Grafana. Understanding Kubernetes architecture, operations, and GitOps principles/tools will set you apart. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible, as well as security in air-gapped environments, is also beneficial. You possess the ability to design secure, well-architected systems based on customer requirements and can analyze situations or problems at the system level or from a broader perspective.

What you'll do

As an Associate Systems Development Engineer, you will be at the forefront of deploying and managing Google's advanced cloud and AI technologies, including Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) and Gemini models, in complex environments. Your role emphasizes the development of tools and solutions that fix classes of problems and reduce toil. You will provide support to United States Government customers and will participate in scheduled on-call rotations to ensure rapid resolution of customer-impacting issues. You will collaborate with product engineering teams to diagnose, mitigate, and resolve complex technical issues, contributing to architectural improvements. Your work will involve writing scripts in Python and Go to streamline operations, reduce toil, and improve system scalability and life-cycle management.

What we offer

At Google, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to projects that have a significant impact on the public sector. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. Our culture promotes collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth, ensuring that you can develop your skills and advance your career in a supportive environment.
