Google is seeking a Tax Manager for Information Reporting and Withholding to advise on tax implications of diverse product offerings. You'll leverage your expertise in U.S. information reporting and withholding tax. This role requires 10 years of experience in tax.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent practical experience, and at least 10 years of experience in tax, specifically in information reporting and withholding. Your background includes working with the IRS or state taxing authorities, and you possess deep technical expertise in U.S. information reporting, including Chapters 3 and 61, FATCA, and CRS. You may also hold a Juris Doctor, a Master's degree in Taxation, or a CIRS Certification, which further enhances your qualifications for this role.
Your experience spans various environments, including public accounting firms, law firms, government, or corporate tax departments. You have a proven track record of advising business units and internal stakeholders on complex tax implications, demonstrating your ability to navigate intricate tax legislation and compliance requirements. You are detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills, allowing you to review tax information returns for validity and accuracy effectively.
You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with internal tax operations, engineering teams, and external advisors to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. Your communication skills enable you to articulate complex tax concepts clearly to non-tax professionals, fostering a culture of understanding and compliance within the organization.
While not required, experience in managing interactions with external advisors and providing technical guidance on tax legislation is a plus. Familiarity with system and process improvements related to tax compliance will also be beneficial in this role.
As the Tax Manager for Information Reporting and Withholding at Google, you will play a pivotal role in advising various business units on the tax implications of Google's diverse product offerings. Your responsibilities will include providing technical guidance on relevant tax legislation, ensuring compliance with U.S. information reporting requirements, and strategically advising on new product launches and business expansions. You will manage compliance with FATCA and CRS, working closely with external advisors to navigate these complex regulations.
You will be responsible for reviewing tax information returns for validity and accuracy, ensuring that all submissions meet the necessary requirements. Your role will involve advising on transactions that fall under Section 6050W and the associated Form 1099-K requirements, which are critical for compliance in the digital economy. You will also recommend system and process improvements to enhance the efficiency of tax operations.
In addition to your compliance responsibilities, you will collaborate with international tax and product counsel to make tax character and sourcing recommendations on new products. This will require you to stay updated on the latest tax legislation and industry trends, ensuring that Google's practices remain compliant and competitive.
Google offers a competitive salary range for this full-time position, with a base salary between $165,000 and $245,000, along with bonuses, equity, and benefits.
