We are seeking an experienced security leader to manage our Threat Detection team at Amazon Security. The ideal candidate will lead a team of security engineers responsible for detecting threats across Amazon's vast infrastructure at petabytes scale. This role requires someone who can balance technical leadership with people management while driving strategic security initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Threat Detection Engineers, including hiring, mentoring, and career development
- Partner with other security teams (Incident Response, Threat Hunting, Red Teams) to ensure aligned security operations
- Drive continuous improvement in detection engineering processes and methodologies
- Oversee the development and implementation of advanced detection mechanisms utilizing ML, AI, and other innovative technologies
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders across the organization
- Define and track key performance metrics for the threat detection program
- Drive automation and efficiency initiatives within the team

- Strong track record of people development and team building
- Deep understanding of security concepts, threat detection methodologies, and attack techniques
- Track record of building and scaling security programs
- Experience working with cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
- Ability to influence and drive consensus across multiple teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills- 3+ years of people management experience in a technical role
- Background in machine learning or data science
