Job Description

Amazon Gen AI's vision is to make AWS the best place to build Gen AI applications. Bedrock Data Automation (BDA) serves this vision by providing developers the easiest access to a variety of multimodal Foundation Models (FM)'s capabilities in a manner that drastically reduces time-to-market for developers. We accomplish this by leveraging these pre-trained models and AWS’s infrastructure management. As more developers and enterprises adopt BDA, they can build and deploy increasingly complex AI applications (Increased Adoption & Scale), which will create more opportunity to introduce complementary services, such as enhanced data pipelines, custom models, or integration with other AWS offerings, creating a broader ecosystem that deepens customer reliance. As the ecosystem grows stronger. The ease of integration, scalability, and access to latest models creates a network effect, encouraging even more developers to choose BDA for their multimodal AI applications.

In this role, you will own and build the critical AWS services in Textract, Bedrock Data Automation (BDA) and Rekognition in the machine learning and generative AI field. This is an area that requires solving the hardest engineering challenges to enable machine learning powered solutions for our customers. Experience with machine learning systems is preferred, but not required. You will deliver some of our most strategic technical projects, deliver large scalable systems, design new software systems and have a significant bottom-line impact on our business and competitive position. In addition to delivering critical software, you will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers and provide leadership on complex technical issues. This position within the AWS Bedrock team presents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast growing business and help shape the technology, product and the business. Key job responsibilities
Lead and Mentor a Talented Team: You will manage and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Your leadership skills will be pivotal in guiding the team through complex challenges and ensuring their professional growth.

Drive Technical Vision and Strategy: As the SDM, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical vision and strategy for the team. You will work closely with stakeholders, product managers and scientists align your roadmap with business objectives.

Agile Methodologies and DevOps Practices: You will champion agile methodologies and DevOps practices within the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, automated testing, operational excellence and efficient software delivery and release.
Collaboration and Communication: This role involves working closely with Product Management, UX Design, Applied Science, and Engineering Leadership across multiple teams in Bellevue, Seattle, SJC, NYC and Bangalore. Effective collaboration and communication skills are essential in this role to ensure alignment and seamless integration of efforts.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
