Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure in Frederick, Maryland. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime. This role requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and knowledge of data center operations.

Who you are

You are an entry-level Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems. You have hands-on experience troubleshooting complex equipment and are eager to learn about data center operations. Your attention to detail ensures that you maintain high standards of uptime and reliability in mission-critical environments. You thrive in collaborative settings, working alongside diverse teams of engineers and specialists to solve challenging problems. You are committed to continuous improvement and are excited about the opportunity to contribute to the technological backbone of a global leader in cloud services.

Desirable

Experience with diesel generators and fuel systems is a plus, as is familiarity with three-phase electrical systems. You may have worked with cooling systems, including centrifugal chillers and air handlers, and understand the importance of maintaining optimal operational conditions in a data center. A background in AWS infrastructure services or similar environments would be beneficial, as would any certifications related to electrical or mechanical engineering.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting critical infrastructure that supports AWS data centers. You will work with a variety of systems, including stand-by diesel generators, UPSs, PDUs, and cooling systems. Your role will involve hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, ensuring that all equipment operates efficiently and effectively. You will collaborate with other technicians and engineers to identify and resolve issues, contributing to the overall reliability of the data center operations.

You will also participate in routine maintenance and inspections, documenting your findings and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. Your expertise will help maintain the extraordinary uptime that AWS is known for, directly impacting the digital experiences of customers worldwide.
