Google is seeking a Test Engineer focused on Display Manufacturing to qualify and support microLED and display panel test systems. You'll work with Python and SQL to automate data pipelines and enhance testing capabilities. This role requires 4+ years of experience in optoelectronics or semiconductor manufacturing.
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field such as Optics or Sensors — your educational background provides a solid foundation for understanding complex technical concepts. With at least 4 years of experience in optoelectronics testing, display metrology, or a semiconductor manufacturing environment, you have developed a keen eye for detail and a strong grasp of industry standards.
Your experience includes deploying, validating, and debugging semiconductor hardware test systems — you’ve navigated the challenges of ensuring that these systems operate flawlessly in high-volume production settings. You are proficient in writing and debugging test system software, which has equipped you with the skills to troubleshoot and enhance testing processes effectively.
You have hands-on experience scripting in SQL or Python, which you have utilized to build automated data pipelines and tool deployment scripts — your technical skills enable you to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency. Your preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field, which further enhances your expertise and ability to tackle complex engineering challenges.
You have a history of working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and managing remote test fleets, demonstrating your ability to coordinate across teams and ensure quality in high-volume manufacturing environments. Your experience in automating manual engineering workflows showcases your commitment to driving operational scalability and efficiency.
As a mentor, you enjoy guiding engineers and influencing cross-functional partners to align on test strategies — your leadership skills are complemented by your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively. You thrive in environments with high ambiguity and shifting priorities, allowing you to lead complex technical projects with confidence.
In your role as a Test Engineer focused on MicroLED Display Manufacturing, you will be responsible for the qualification, deployment, and ongoing support of microLED and display panel test systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate new testing capabilities, ensuring that the systems meet the rigorous standards required for production.
Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting complex yield limiters and providing rapid-response production support — you will be the go-to technical lead during critical production ramps, which may require on-call support during nights and weekends based on production schedules. You will also create documentation to ensure consistent replication of test systems, which is vital for maintaining quality across production lines.
You will work closely with engineering teams to professionalize hardware integration and extend workforce hardware builds to external vendors — your role will be pivotal in ensuring that all systems are optimized for performance and reliability. By driving the development of automated testing processes, you will help to enhance the overall efficiency of the manufacturing operation.
At Google, you will be part of a dynamic team that is at the forefront of display technology innovation. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work on cutting-edge projects that have a significant impact on the future of display technology, contributing to advancements that will shape the industry.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be exactly what we need to drive our projects forward. Join us in our mission to create the next generation of display technologies that will enhance user experiences worldwide.
