Job Description

Who you are

You are currently completing or have recently completed a PhD program in a relevant field, with a strong foundation in machine learning and data science. You possess a passion for building high-impact consumer-facing products and have experience in developing machine learning models and data pipelines. Your coding skills are strong, particularly in Python, and you are comfortable writing clean, maintainable code that adheres to best practices. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to work alongside talented engineers, product managers, and data scientists to drive impactful outcomes.

Desirable

Experience with Hive or similar technologies is a plus, as is familiarity with real-time services and online model serving. You have a keen interest in tackling challenging problems at scale and are excited about shaping core pricing mechanisms within a large marketplace. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies and methodologies as needed.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and build innovative products that are used by hundreds of millions of consumers. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and applied/data scientists to enhance the efficiency of key delivery marketplace pricing levers through the development and optimization of machine learning models. You will also be responsible for building offline data pipelines using Hive or similar technologies, ensuring that data flows seamlessly through the system. Your work will directly impact the consumer journey across Uber's Delivery products, including food delivery and groceries.

You will engage in the full end-to-end flow of product development, from initial concept through to deployment and user experience. This includes writing high-quality code, conducting experiments to validate your models, and iterating based on feedback and performance metrics. You will have the opportunity to tackle complex challenges and contribute to the growth and efficiency of Uber's marketplace.

What we offer

Uber provides a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on consumer experiences. You will have the chance to work on projects that reach millions of users globally, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our services. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Additionally, you will have access to professional development opportunities and the chance to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office, fostering a collaborative team culture.
