Overview

SpaceX is hiring a TIG Welder to weld, assemble, and fabricate various fluid systems and components. You'll work with precision tools and interpret technical drawings. This position requires at least 1 year of TIG welding experience or certification from an accredited trade skills program.

Job Description

Who you are

You have at least 1 year of experience with TIG welding or hold a certification from an accredited trade skills program. You are familiar with working on various materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum, or copper. Your ability to read and interpret technical drawings is strong, and you are proficient in using precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers. You have experience operating forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment, and you are comfortable performing blending, filing, and shearing of sheet metal piece parts. You understand the importance of following procedures, specifications, and test instructions to ensure quality work.

Desirable

You have 5+ years of experience in welding, particularly in aerospace TIG welding. You are highly proficient in tube cutting, grinding, and fabrication, especially for small and large diameters up to 6 inches. Your experience includes completing welds that pass visual inspections before being X-rayed or dye penned. You hold certifications with AWS D17.1 and D1.2 and have experience with overhead cranes and forklifts.

As a TIG Welder at SpaceX, you will be responsible for welding, assembling, and fabricating various fluid systems and sub-assembly components. You will utilize precision calibrated tools to ensure the highest quality of work. Your role will involve reading and interpreting technical drawings and following detailed work instructions to complete tasks efficiently. You will operate forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment as needed, and perform blending, filing, and shearing of sheet metal piece parts. You will also be expected to perform other related duties as assigned to maintain an effective work environment.
