Overview

Birdie is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical evolution of their Rostering capability. You'll work with Go and TypeScript to design and deliver next-generation product features. This role requires significant experience in software engineering.

You have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly with Go and TypeScript, and have a strong understanding of best practices in software design and architecture. You are passionate about building technology that makes a difference, especially in the healthcare sector, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can lead technical discussions and mentor other engineers.

Your background includes working on complex systems that require careful consideration of user needs and technical constraints. You are adept at problem-solving and enjoy tackling challenges that come with scaling software solutions. You understand the importance of delivering high-quality code and are committed to continuous improvement in your work.

You have a proven track record of successfully delivering software projects from conception to deployment, and you are comfortable working in agile teams. Your communication skills enable you to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Desirable

Experience with healthcare technology or similar industries is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud services and microservices architecture. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer at Birdie, you will play a pivotal role in the Architecture team, focusing on the Rostering capability that ensures efficient care delivery. You will collaborate with cross-functional squads to design and implement new features that enhance the user experience for care teams and older adults alike.

Your responsibilities will include leading technical discussions, establishing best practices for Go development, and mentoring junior engineers. You will work closely with product managers and designers to translate user needs into technical solutions, ensuring that the software you build is both functional and user-friendly.

You will also be involved in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to your peers, and ensuring that the codebase remains maintainable and scalable. Your expertise will guide the team in making architectural decisions that align with the company's mission to transform home healthcare.
