Job Description

In this role, you'll design and lead advocacy campaigns that make a real impact. You'll build and manage relationships with important partners - government officials, business leaders, academics, and advocacy groups - to promote policies that support innovation. You'll provide expert advice on changes in Japanese regulations, and create clear, persuasive messages that connect with different audiences.

We're looking for someone with strong experience in public policy or government relations who has a proven record of influencing policy decisions. You should have deep knowledge of how public policies are made in Japan and how regulations work, plus excellent skills in working with people across government and business. You'll need to be great at analyzing complex issues and explaining them clearly to others, while keeping our organization's goals in mind.

Success in this role requires experience in managing multiple relationships and maintaining strong connections with government officials and industry counterparts. Your ability to spot upcoming policy changes, find new opportunities, and work effectively in challenging political situations will be key to helping us achieve our goals in Japan and beyond.

Key job responsibilities
- Create and lead policy advocacy campaigns.
- Study and understand new policy issues, including how they affect businesses.
- Connect with important people and groups, including government officials, business leaders, and advocacy organizations, to help achieve our goals.
- Team up with other organizations and groups who share our goals to make our voice stronger.
- Write easy-to-understand reports and statements about key issues that explain our position and convince others.

About the team
Work hard and make history with Amazon’s International Public Policy team. Like our business interests, our policy issues are broad, forward-thinking, and driven by what is best for our customers. The International Public Policy team works with a wide range of national, local, and supranational policymakers, industry organizations, NGOs and academia across numerous regulatory and policy issues, spanning policy, consumer and commercial environment.- Minimum of 7 years experience in public policy, advocacy, or government relations.
- Strong knowledge of policy-making process in Japan.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Japanese.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.- An advanced degree in law, economics, political science, and public policy
- Experience in working in/with Japanese national government
- Expertise in economic and/or digital policies
- Experience with coalition-building and working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
- Public speaking experience.
