SpaceX is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for the Starship Structural Test team to design and analyze large steel and concrete structures. You'll work on innovative test structures and collaborate closely with vehicle and test engineers. This role requires 5+ years of experience in structural engineering.
You are a Senior Structural Engineer with over 5 years of experience in the engineering of composite steel and concrete structural systems. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and have a strong background in designing and analyzing large structures. Your expertise allows you to contribute both as an individual contributor and a technical leader, ensuring that your designs meet the rigorous demands of aerospace applications.
You possess a deep understanding of structural mechanics and are skilled in using AutoCAD for detailed design work. You are adept at considering boundary conditions, load paths, and stiffness in your designs, ensuring that they interact effectively with rocket structures. Your experience has equipped you with the ability to develop unique, fast-to-build, and cost-effective structures that can withstand flight-like loads.
You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with vehicle and test engineers to develop test structures from conception to execution. Your ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly and effectively makes you a valuable team member. You are committed to innovation and are always looking for ways to improve design processes and outcomes.
Experience with fabrication planning and on-site fabrication support is a plus. Familiarity with aerospace standards and practices will enhance your ability to contribute to the team’s success. You are open to learning new techniques and technologies that can improve structural testing and analysis.
As a Senior Structural Engineer on the Starship Structural Test team, you will be responsible for architecting, performing detailed design and analysis on, and building structures that apply flight-like loads to Starship test articles. You will lead efforts to ensure that the structures you design are not only functional but also efficient and cost-effective.
You will collaborate with a dynamic team, contributing your technical expertise in the design, analysis, and fabrication of large composite steel and concrete structures. Your role will involve developing test structures that are integral to the testing of the Starship’s primary structure, ensuring that they meet the high standards required for aerospace applications.
You will be responsible for overseeing the fabrication planning process and providing on-site support during the fabrication of your structures. This hands-on involvement will allow you to ensure that your designs are executed accurately and efficiently. You will also be expected to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to help them grow in their roles.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to making space travel a reality for humanity. You will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of engineering and technology. We offer a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a direct impact on the future of space exploration.
You will receive competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional development and growth within the company. Join us in our mission to enable human life on Mars and be part of a team that is shaping the future of space travel.
