Senior Applied ML Scientist – Generative Video

Who you are

You have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With over 4 years of experience in deep learning for generative models, particularly diffusion-based methods, you have a strong foundation in the principles of machine learning and its applications. Your hands-on experience in distributed training of large models using PyTorch or equivalent frameworks sets you apart. You possess a solid understanding of video representations, spatiotemporal modeling, and neural network optimization, which allows you to tackle complex challenges in generative video modeling.

You are familiar with designing and training multi-modal DiT-style Transformers and latent diffusion models. Your expertise extends to exploring novel architectures for spatiotemporal modeling, such as 3D U-Nets and hybrid CNN-Transformer models. You are driven by the desire to elevate the workflows of millions of creators by combining generative AI with human-centered design principles. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with research scientists, engineers, and product teams to find innovative applications of generative AI capabilities.

Desirable

Experience with long-range temporal coherence, motion consistency, controllability, and multi-modal conditioning (text, audio, images) is a plus. You are also well-versed in the latest research and trends in the field, having possibly contributed to conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, or ECCV. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively makes you a valuable team member.

What you'll do

In this role, you will research, design, and deploy state-of-the-art generative video models, primarily based on diffusion methods. You will conduct experiments to explore novel architectures and improve the performance of generative models. Your work will directly impact the creative user base by providing innovative solutions that enhance their workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement novel applications of generative AI, ensuring that the solutions align with Apple's human-centered design principles.
