Job Description

The Marketplace team at Amazon is looking for a talented, customer-obsessed Senior Category Manager to support the growth of Hardlines categories in Spain.

This role requires sound business judgment and an ability to think strategically in a quick-paced, ambiguous setting. You will simultaneously dive deep into the tactical details of each initiative leveraging your exceptional data analytics skills, as well as set a broad strategic vision for execution and scale.

The ideal candidate will (1) have extensive experience working with data, especially with respect to creating comprehensive reporting dashboards and mechanisms for goal tracking and stakeholder coordination; (2) highly organized and have a demonstrated track record of successful project management, juggling multiple projects with competing deadlines; (3) a self-starter with a passion for independent, creative problem-solving; (4) detailed-oriented and able to write high-quality documents and present to senior leadership; (5) able to deal with ambiguity and manage multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with databases and a passion for numbers. Furthermore, we are looking for someone enthusiastic, self-motivated, customer-focused, and a team player.
The Senior Category Manager will have several key responsibilities within the third-party Marketplace side of the Amazon Consumer business, including:

Ownership of Category & Strategy: act as business owner of Consumer Electronics categories in Spain Marketplace. Audit and report on input and output metrics on a weekly basis, looking at data trends from multiple angles. Possess a complete understanding of KPIs impacting the business (from data extraction and handling to modelling and insight generation). Work closely with Leadership (European Heads of Seller Services) on strategy planning (including “three year plans”, yearly “operating plans” and local action plans) using the insights generated, to drive best-in-class Customer experience and grow the business in terms of Gross Margin Sales.
Project Management: Lead a variety of projects to drive growth and improve Customer and Seller Experience across Hardlines in Europe. Develop a complete understanding of Customer and Selling Partner needs through in-depth data analysis. Use those insights to propose innovative initiatives, features and solutions. Partner with cross-functional teams (category and product management, business intelligence, software engineers, sales, legal and other international partners) to prioritize, inform and analyze the initiatives. Automate and scale the existing category-level opportunities, and roll-out existing EU-wide initiatives. Track results (developing dashboards where needed) and impact of the projects and communicate to Leadership. Coach more junior team members supporting in those projects.
Business Development: work with direct Selling Partner recruitment teams to help identify strategic accounts and add selection, improve pricing and convenience for the category. Liaise with Selling Partners to obtain anecdotes and data to a drive a continuously improving experience.- University degree in an analytical field (engineering, statistics, economics, business administration, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Finance, Statistics, Analytics, Business Intelligence or Consulting roles that have included extensive quantitative analysis
- Results orientation and good organization skills, with a high degree of ownership and experience managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in leading analysis, customer segmentation and/or product behavior analysis.
- Advanced excel and database analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Personal initiative and strong hands-on attitude with a results-driven mentality.
- MBA from top tier business school is highly preferred
- Medium to advanced knowledge of SQL is required to develop this role successfully but not a blocker for hire if candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills (and experience) and is willing and able to learn in a short time frame.
- Core Program and Project Management skills is preferred (regular updates, Program flashes, data audits, review meetings, process audits)
