The Alexa AI team is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive SDM to play pivotal role in the development of runtime services for industry-leading conversational assistant capabilities.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager to build and operate the next generation architecture for the core runtime Orchestration platform and enable new dimensions of customer experiences on Alexa. You will lead a group of talented engineers, who help shape core of Alexa engine, and builds capabilities that plays a major role in the evolution of industry-leading conversational assistance capabilities. Your time with us will be impactful, and your vision, creativeness and engineering output adopted by teams across Amazon and beyond.

* Responsible for the development and maintenance of key platform services interfacing with large language models required for building conversational agents.
* Work with Applied Science Mangers, TPMs, PMTs, PEs to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
* Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against tight schedules.

As a member of leadership team in the org, you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.


A day in the life
As an SDM with the Alexa AI team, you will be responsible for leading the development high performance, low latency, very advanced runtime engineering solutions to advance the state of the art Conversational Assistant agents. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of conversational agent innovations. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate development with multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic framework to improve Conversational Excellence. You will drive the system architecture the best practices that enable a quality infrastructure. You will hire and develop and world class engieering team.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- Several years of industry/engineering experience
- Experience leading software engineering teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated technical leadership
- Experience with software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and distributed systems - Strong business and technical vision
- Track record of delivering large-scale software systems on time
- Experience working across organizational boundaries and bringing together diverse perspectives
- Experience with end-to-end product ownership and working directly with designers
- Strong passion for recruiting engineering talent
- Data-driven approach with excellence in metrics and monitoring
- Experience in Architecture/System Design
- Knowledge of relational databases, storage systems and distributed systems
