Job Description

AMXL Japan is looking for Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to contribute towards team vision and build the Reports/Dash Boards/Applications necessary for business and operate them.

We operate one of the largest e-commerce businesses in Japan. We strive to be” Earth’s most customer-centric company” and we are building a fulfillment network which customers can shop with the fastest delivery when they want any goods they want. It is our foundation to provide customers with a wide selection and deliver products as promised, but the environment around the logistics and retail industry is changing day by day. Our supply chain logistics is becoming more complex every day under continuous growth of Amazon Japan Therefore, there is a need to create and improve indicators and dashboards related to transportation, stable operation and efficiency of operations, and even to improve the efficiency of these business operations themselves, and we are looking for Business Intelligence Manager that provide optimal solutions to these challenges using AWS and Amazon internal tools

Key job responsibilities
• The role requires to set day to day and strategic priorities, partnering effectively with customers and stakeholders. You establish a roadmap and successfully deliver BI solutions that meet the business needs.
• The role requires to build mechanisms and standards for ensuring engineering excellence (e.g. correctness and efficiency) and operational excellence (e.g. quality, consistency, and reliability).
• The role requires to define metrics to measure your team’s progress, data/solution quality, and engineering/operational excellence.
• The role requires to deliver BI solutions for complex problems, often at the architectural level and often in conjunction with other engineering teams

A day in the life
You attend daily business reviews and understand whats happening to key network metrics. You spend time with strategy & ops teams to find ways to meet customer expectations. You write quality documents that seek to plan, inform & align internal stakeholders. You challenge the status quo and drive data based decision making within your team. You take business trips within and outside Japan as required to build your skills and network or test your plans and assumptions. Additionally, you are always ready to jump in and take charge when problems and challenges emerge.


About the team
Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) JP team is a single threaded organization that owns Amazon's end-to-end Heavy & Bulky (H&B) logistics network with our willing and equally customer obsessed partners, offering shipping, service & support for consumers and companies in a safe, reliable, seamless, standardized, and sustainable way that surprises and delights our customers. Our delivery partners are experienced in H&B deliveries, providing special handling services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly and Recycling/Haul-Away.

Our team is made up of a diverse group of individuals across operations, supply chain, tech, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence and program management that work closely and collaboratively across Amazon to constantly improve and scale our operations, always insisting on the highest standards and obsessing over delivering bigger smiles for our customers.- 5+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining- Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership
