Roku is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for their Data Platform team to build and support one of the largest data lakes in the world. You'll work with technologies like Kafka, Spark, and Hive to manage and process vast amounts of data. This role requires strong experience in data engineering and DevOps practices.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on DevOps and data platforms — you've successfully built and maintained large-scale data systems that handle petabytes of data. Your expertise in tools like Kafka, Spark, and Hive allows you to efficiently manage data workflows and ensure system reliability.
You possess a strong understanding of data processing frameworks and are comfortable working with both batch and streaming data — your experience includes optimizing data pipelines and ensuring data quality across various platforms. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.
You are passionate about open-source technologies and have actively contributed to projects that enhance data processing capabilities — your commitment to continuous learning keeps you updated on the latest trends and best practices in the industry. You understand the importance of monitoring and alerting systems to maintain operational excellence.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is a plus — familiarity with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or Ansible will set you apart. You have a knack for troubleshooting complex issues and can effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Roku, you will be responsible for building and supporting the data platform that powers one of the largest data lakes in the world — your work will involve designing and implementing data processing workflows that handle over 70 petabytes of data. You will collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and processed efficiently.
You will take the lead on optimizing existing data pipelines and implementing new solutions that enhance data acquisition and processing capabilities — your role will also involve monitoring system performance and implementing best practices for data governance and security. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's growth and success.
You will engage with the open-source community to share your knowledge and learn from others — your contributions will help shape the future of data processing at Roku. You will participate in design reviews and technical discussions to influence the direction of the data platform.
At Roku, you will be part of a fast-growing public company that values innovation and teamwork — we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and generous PTO. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact millions of TV streamers around the world.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we believe that diverse teams build better products and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Join us in transforming the way the world watches TV.
