Network Security Engineer

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 3 years of experience in network security. Your expertise includes a deep understanding of network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS. You excel at multi-tasking and thrive in fast-paced environments, demonstrating flexibility and creativity in problem-solving. You are a self-starter who takes initiative and possesses the ingenuity to tackle complex security challenges.

You have a proven track record of developing and implementing network security tools, producing threat models, and assessing risks around existing configurations. Your ability to manage firewall configurations based on operational requirements is complemented by your knowledge of industry best practices. You are comfortable documenting and formalizing security processes, ensuring that all security measures are well-communicated and understood across teams.

Desirable

Experience with security best practices and the ability to work collaboratively with other teams to develop secure architectures is a plus. Familiarity with managing and maintaining network security systems, including applying system patches and performing periodic maintenance tasks, will set you apart. You are proactive in analyzing security challenges and coming up with creative network solutions that meet operational needs.

What you'll do

As a Network Security Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing and implementing network security tools that protect the organization’s infrastructure. You will produce threat models and assess risks associated with existing configurations, providing subject matter expertise on network security and firewalls. Your role will involve managing firewall configurations within the SpaceX enterprise network, ensuring they align with operational requirements.

You will analyze security challenges and proactively devise creative solutions to address operational needs. Documenting and formalizing security processes will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will managing and maintaining network security systems through regular updates and maintenance tasks. You will collaborate with other teams at SpaceX to determine functional needs and communicate security best practices and policies effectively.
