SpaceX is hiring an SMT Specialist for their 2nd shift to manage and maintain equipment in avionics production. You'll work with Altium Designer and Embedded Linux to optimize processes and train technicians. This role requires experience in surface mount technology and process development.
You have a strong background in surface mount technology (SMT) and experience managing complex machines — your expertise allows you to troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively. You are skilled in programming and operating automated equipment, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently. Your ability to design custom fixtures for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) demonstrates your commitment to optimizing process flow and enhancing productivity. You have experience in training technicians, sharing your knowledge to empower others in the team. You are proactive in identifying continuous improvement opportunities, focusing on yield, performance, and cost reduction. Your familiarity with maintenance schedules and support activities ensures that equipment is always in top condition, ready for production demands.
As an SMT Specialist at SpaceX, you will execute new product introduction builds across various work centers, playing a critical role in the production process. You will assist with the initial setup of the PCBA line, including facility requests and programming of equipment, ensuring that everything is ready for operation. Your responsibilities will include programming, loading, and operating automated equipment, which is essential for maintaining high production rates. You will also design custom fixtures for PCBA to ensure efficient process flow, contributing to the overall success of the production team. You will triage non-conforming products, driving resolution and implementing preventative actions to maintain product quality. Additionally, you will resolve production issues while ensuring design integrity and adherence to delivery timelines. Your role will involve performing process development and validation on new models, often under aggressive timelines, to ensure successful product transitions. You will identify continuous improvement opportunities that enhance yield, performance, and cost-effectiveness, and define maintenance schedules to support ongoing production activities. Your expertise will be vital in optimizing and configuring processes and equipment for building surface mount electronics assemblies, ensuring that SpaceX meets its ambitious production goals.
